Free apps with ads, and a policy that says so

Some EU Studio apps and games will be free with ads, starting with Solitaire. The privacy policy now says what Google's ads collect and what we never see.

Solitaire is free to play, and the free version shows ads from Google AdMob. More free apps and games will follow the same model, so the privacy policy has changed, and we promised to say so here rather than quietly edit it.

What changed

  • The privacy policy has a new section, Advertising in free apps and games, which says what Google may collect when an ad is shown.
  • Before any ad is requested, the app asks for your consent where the law requires it, and iOS asks whether the app may track you. Declining changes which ads you see, never how the app works.
  • EU Studio receives none of the advertising data about you. We see only Google's aggregate reports: how many ads were shown and what they earned.
  • In Solitaire, a one-time Premium purchase removes the ads, and a copy that has Premium when it opens never starts Google's ad code at all.

What did not change

Your content stays on your device and in your own iCloud. An app with ads says so on its App Store page and in its privacy label before you download it.

This website now measures our ChatGPT ads

We now advertise in ChatGPT. To see if it works, this website loads OpenAI's ad pixel, which sets cookies. The privacy policy says exactly what it does.
