What's inside
Everything Backgammon does, without the filler.
Five opponents
From one that misses a lot to one that looks at your reply before it moves. None of them are given better dice.
The whole rulebook
Doubles, the bar, bearing off, gammons and backgammons, the doubling cube and the Crawford rule.
Eight lessons
The rules first, then what to do with them — short enough to finish.
Boards and pieces
Eleven boards, eight sets of checkers, seven sets of dice and twelve avatars, all drawn in code rather than shipped as images.
A record worth keeping
Games, wins, streaks, a rating that moves with the strength of the opponent, and the last thirty games on a chart.
Pass and play
Two players on one device — the board turns to face whoever is on turn.
Why people use Backgammon
The reasons that survive the second week.
The dice are not rigged, in either direction
They come from the system's cryptographic generator and are never adjusted, re-rolled or looked at ahead of time. Not for you, and not for the computer.
Nothing on sale changes a position
The shop is appearance only. Premium removes ads and unlocks seven boards, three sets of dice, a set of checkers and two avatars; the game underneath is the same one.
It teaches the real game
The cube and the Crawford rule are where backgammon actually lives. Both are in the game — the cube is switched on in the settings or when you start a new game — and there is a lesson on each.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. It is off to begin with; switch it on in the settings or when you start a new game. Without the cube a plain win is one point, a gammon two and a backgammon three — the simpler game, and the right one to learn on.
